NBA Phoenix/Utah – Preview 4/24

Written by Vegas Top Cappers | May 13, 2012

Big match-up tonight in the NBA as the Phoenix Suns (33-31 SU) play at the Utah Jazz (34-30 SU).  These two teams are fighting for the 8th and final playoff spot in the NBA Western Conference.  While the rest of the NBA is just playing out the schedule for the most part both these teams desperately want to make the playoffs.  This could be Steve Nash’s last year in Phoenix and he wants to go out a winner and proving he can lead a team to the playoffs that doesn’t have a lot of talent.   Nash has come on record saying that if Phoenix does nto upgrade its roster than he will be leaving.  I wonder if Steve would like to go to South Beach?  How about NY?  or even LA?  Nash just wants a title.  Right now in his career that’s all that matters.  Let’s face it if either one of these teams makes the playoffs, they are not getting by the Spurs but it would be an accomplishment just to make it this year with the whacky scheduling that was.

From a bettors perspective tonight’s game some trends to think about.  Phoenix is 16-16 ATS in road games while Utah is 18-12-1 ATS at home.

Phoenix is 0-3 ATS this year with 2 or more days rest; Utah is 5-1 ATS when playing with 2 or more days rest.

Phoenix is 8-5 ATS in April games; Utah is 6-4 ATS in April Games

Phoenix is 12-4 ATS after losing by 10 or more points this year; Utah is 5-8 ATS after winning by 10 or more points this year.  Ironically Phoenix is coming off a 11-point loss and Utah is coming off a 10-point for this trend tonight.

Phoenix has owned Utah the last three years as they are 7-2 SU and 6-3 ATS including 2-0 SU and ATS this year

This game looks like it will come down to the wire and Phoenix must win to keep their playoffs alive.  Make sure you check out our NBA Playoff Preview once all of the match-ups are set.  Tough to root against Steve Nash tonight but they will need to play at their best the next couple of games to beat an up and coming Utah team.
